MV AGUSTA

MV Agusta started out as an aircraft manufacturer and only started producing motorbikes following the death of its founder, Count Giovanni Agusta, in 1927. The company has been sold to various businesses on more than one occasion throughout its turbulent history – including Harley-Davidson in 2008. In 2010, however, it was bought back by Claudio Castiglioni, as Harley-Davidson was itself experiencing great financial difficulty. Following Claudio Castiglioni’s death at the age of 64 on 17 August 2011, it was his son, Giovanni, who took over at the helm. MV Agusta has won a total of 38 driver and 37 manufacturer world championship titles in the Grand Prix. For almost 20 years, it dominated first the low-capacity engine classes and then the high-capacity engine classes. MV Agusta has always made very exclusive motorbikes that are extremely popular with both customisers and accessory manufacturers.
