These data usage guidelines were written in German and translated into different languages. In the event of inconsistencies between the translated versions and the German version, the latter shall always be decisive.

We take data privacy very seriously

CUSTOMBIKE takes the security and privacy of your personal data very seriously, which is why we handle your personal data responsibly. We want to make sure that you understand what type of information we collect about you, how it is used and what measures we take to protect your data. Below, we would like to give you a brief insight into how we handle your data.

Collecting and using personal data

Personal data is individual details about the personal or material circumstances of an identified or identifiable person. It can therefore enable your identification or be directly allocated to you. Personal data includes information such as your name, address, date of birth and telephone number, your password, the computer IP address visible to us when you visit our website and our records on bids, purchases and sales. The type of personal data and other information that we collect and store depends on how you interact with our website.

In principle, you can visit our website without the need to register and find out information without having to divulge your personal data.

We assure you that we collect, process and use your data solely for the purposes of setting up and managing your membership, of handling and processing transactions you initiate via and of rendering, safeguarding and improving the services and functions offered on the CUSTOMBIKE platform, except when collecting, processing or using your data in exceptional cases.

By becoming a member, you are also consenting to us processing and using your personal data for any marketing measures taken by CUSTOMBIKE and/or associated companies, e.g. sending general-information or advertising emails (newsletters). We may also pass the data on to our proxies both within Switzerland and abroad who perform advertising activities for us. These proxies are contractually obligated not to pass on your personal data and to respect the degree of data privacy in line with the present data usage guidelines.

Payment service provider data

We ourselves do not save or ask for any payment service provider data, such as credit card details. Payments are processed by external service providers.

Using cookies

CUSTOMBIKE uses so-called cookies. A cookie is a little data packet sent from a website computer to your browser and saved on your computer’s hard drive. Cookies save information about your online preferences and enable us to adapt our web design, services and advertisements (even outside of the CUSTOMBIKE platform) to continually improve both your user experience and your security.

You can change the settings on your computer such that it either accepts all cookies, informs you when cookies are being set up or refuses to accept any cookies. You can also manually delete the cookies at any time in your browser settings. Please note that if you deactivate cookies, certain personalised services cannot be provided. As such, you may not be able to use all the functions offered on the CUSTOMBIKE platform to their full extent.

We also use third-party services to analyse surfing behaviour on our website, such as Google Analytics in connection with ad inclusion services such as Google AdSense. By becoming a member, you are consenting to these third parties using cookies and other methods to record some of your surfing data when you visit our website. The data collected in this way is sent anonymously to the commissioned third party’s server abroad, which may also be in the US.


The CUSTOMBIKE website may contain links to third-party websites. CUSTOMBIKE shall not be held liable for the data privacy guidelines, the collection and use of personal data or the content on these third-party websites. Users should therefore read the relevant data privacy guidelines when using links to other websites.

Social media plugins

The CUSTOMBIKE website includes functions (known as plugins) run by various third-party providers of social media platforms (such as Facebook, Twitter and Google+). These plugins allow visitors to share content on social networks. If a plugin appears while you are surfing on the website (e.g. Facebook’s Like button), a connection shall automatically be established to this website’s servers. When this happens, data about your visit to the CUSTOMBIKE website may be sent to this third-party provider. If the visitor is logged into this third-party provider’s network at the same time, their visit to the website can be allocated to their network account (e.g. Facebook account). CUSTOMBIKE has no influence over how this data is sent and accepts no liability in this regard. Sending data

Your data is saved and processed centrally on protected servers of a hosting provider in Germany. Only specially authorised individuals tasked with supporting the server are granted access. The servers are protected against unauthorised access by extensive security measures.

Published information

By becoming a CUSTOMBIKE member, you are consenting to certain information being published. Publicly accessible information is data that anyone – whether they are a member or not – can view on and that can therefore be used by third parties.

Cancelling and deactivating accounts

If you no longer wish to use your account, it can either be deactivated or deleted.

Deactivating your account means that it is rendered inactive. Other users can no longer see your information or profile, but we do not delete these. A deactivated account can be reactivated at a later date upon request.

Your account is permanently removed when it is deleted. It normally takes about a month for an account to be fully deleted. However, we do keep some data in backup copies and log files for up to 90 days. We only reserve the right to keep such personal information and data for as long as we are required to do so by law. You should only delete your account if you are certain that you no longer want to reactivate it.

Changes to the data usage guidelines

We reserve the right to revise, modify or amend these data usage guidelines at any time. We shall inform you of any revisions, modifications or amendments by sending you a personal message or by using other communication channels. By continuing to use the CUSTOMBIKE website, you are agreeing to all the modifications.
